ANESTHESIAAnesthesia is used for a wider range of circumstances in animals than in people, due to animals' unwillingness to cooperate with certain diagnostic or therapeutic procedures. Veterinary anesthesia includes anesthesia of the major species: dogs, cats, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, and pigs, as well as all other animals requiring veterinary care such as birds, pocket pets, and wildlife. Anesthesia is required for many surgical procedures which require the patient to be immobile, unaware, and without pain. In addition, certain diagnostic procedures require anesthesia, notably stomach or airway endoscopy, bone marrow sampling, and occasionally ultrasound. Evidence exists that suggests that anesthesia which is supervised by a qualified technician is safer than anesthesia without a technician. Aggressive animals may require anesthesia in order to handle and perform a physical exam or obtain blood for testing. Exotic animals frequently require anesthesia for simple procedures (such as taking a radiograph or catheter placement) due to lack of domesticity. Animals may require anesthesia for therapeutic procedures, such as urinary catheterization to relieve obstruction, injection into a mass, or removing fluid from the eye to treat glaucoma. At Brickyard Animal Hospital, our technicians administer and monitor anesthesia with supervision from the attending Veterinarian, your pet will never be left unsupervised. | Contact Us | Read More | Back To Top | BOARDING BY: VET TECH PET SITTINGPets and Pet Parents alike, feel anxiety and guilt when we have to stash our four-footed loved ones in a kennel or ask friends and family members to tend. Cancer cells divide and multiply, and the anti-cancer drugs help to destroy the cancer cells by stopping them from growing and multiplying. The main problem with chemo treatments is that it also destroys the healthy cells as well. In most cases, when the treatments are finished, the healthy cells will continue to re-multiply themselves. | Contact Us | Back To Top | COSMETIC SURGERY - CROPPING EARS | DOCKING TAILS

If left untreated, diseases of the mouth, gums or jaw are not only painful to your companion, but may also be contributing factors to more systemic disease damaging the heart, liver, and kidney. The American Veterinary Dental Society reports 80% of dogs and 70% of cats show signs of oral disease by age 3. The beginning and severity of periodontal disease depends on age, breed, diet and at-home care, with small-breed dogs typically presenting with infection earlier than large-breed dogs. Abnormal signs and symptoms of dental abnormalities include: pain, bad breath, excessive drooling, fractured or loose teeth, bleeding of gums, tumors, sores or wounds. Regular dental care is more than cosmetic, tarter and plaque carry bacteria that get into your pet's bloodstream causing disease. When dogs and cats have allergies, they don't have the same respiratory signs that people do; instead, the allergies affect their skin. The damage that can be done to the skin by the allergies and the pet's response to what's happening with their skin. Pets tend to lick, chew, and scratch in response to allergies and can cause more damage to themselves than the allergies alone. Sometimes the reason pets itch have nothing to do with allergies, and stem from conditions such as Cushing's disease. | Contact Us | Back To Top | DIAGNOSTIC SERVICEMedical diagnosis refers to the process of attempting to determine and/or identify a possible disease or disorder and the opinion reached by process.
